A Note on Source Credibility
Primary sources — government bodies, official records, legal proceedings, direct documentation — are used wherever available and cited explicitly.
News sources we treat as credible for factual reporting (not analysis or framing): AP, Reuters, BBC, New York Times, Times of Israel, Haaretz, Wall Street Journal. We note where their sourcing relies on Gaza-based stringers or Hamas-supplied data.
Compromised sources require explicit disclosure. Hamas controls all access and information flow in Gaza. Any journalist operating in Gaza since 2007 has operated under Hamas oversight. The Gaza Health Ministry is a Hamas government body. Al Jazeera is funded by Qatar, which has hosted and funded Hamas leadership. These sources may contain factual information but require independent corroboration and are never cited without attribution.
What we reject: figures, claims, or descriptions that originate solely with Hamas or Hamas-affiliated bodies and cannot be independently verified — including unattributed casualty counts, claims of Israeli "targeting" that rely only on Hamas press releases, and footage or statements that Hamas itself curated and released as propaganda.
