Five Reservists Indicted for Aggravated Abuse of Sde Teiman Detainee — Rape/Sodomy Not Charged
Military prosecutors indicted five Force 100 reservists for causing serious injury and abuse under aggravated circumstances against a Palestinian detainee at Sde Teiman. The aggravated sodomy offense initially suspected was not charged. All five denied wrongdoing.
The Military Advocate General's office, then headed by Maj. Gen. Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi, filed an indictment against five reservists — a team commander, a security guard, an interpreter and two others — for causing serious injury under aggravated circumstances and abuse under aggravated circumstances. The indictment described the July 5, 2024 assault in detail, including the stabbing that caused a rectal tear, seven broken ribs and a punctured lung. It did not charge aggravated sodomy, the rape-equivalent offense military police had initially suspected. The reports do not say why that charge was dropped. All five soldiers denied wrongdoing.
