The Dutch newspaper de Volkskrant published testimony from 17 international doctors and a nurse who worked in Gaza: 15 reported treating at least 114 children aged 15 and under with a single gunshot wound to the head or chest, most of whom died. The paper presented the pattern as a sign of deliberate targeting; the IDF did not answer questions about shooting children.
De Volkskrant journalists Maud Effting and Willem Feenstra interviewed 17 international doctors and a nurse who had worked at ten Gaza hospitals and clinics since October 2023. By the most conservative count, fifteen of them had treated at least 114 children aged 15 and under with a single gunshot wound to the head or chest, between late 2023 and mid-2025. Eyewitnesses told the doctors the shots mostly came from Israeli snipers or drones. The IDF responded to the newspaper but did not answer questions about shooting children.
