“Leaked IDF data shows 83% of Gaza's dead were civilians — about 5 civilians per combatant, the highest ratio of any war, higher than WWII”

The 83% figure is accurately quoted from a real investigation (+972 / Local Call / The Guardian, Aug 2025) of a leaked Israeli military intelligence database — but the IDF says the figures are incorrect, the database undercounts fighters by design, and other estimates range from roughly 1:1 to 2:1. No source of the civilian/combatant split is fully reliable; the sources are compared on this page. "Highest of any war" is wrong as stated (the researchers themselves name Rwanda, Srebrenica and Mariupol as higher since 1989), and "higher than WWII" is not in the source and compares unlike numbers. The opposite claim — that Gaza has the lowest ratio in urban-warfare history — rests on a misread statistic and is not established either.

“The International Court of Justice decides cases impartially”

Disputed. Its judges are elected by UN political bodies, a peer-reviewed study found they tend to favor the states that appointed them, and its president during 2024 had a long record as Lebanon's UN ambassador criticizing Israel. On the other side, in South Africa v. Israel the court declined to order a full ceasefire, its then-president said it had not found genocide plausible, and it is still hearing Israel's objections.

“The International Criminal Court acts independently and impartially”

Disputed. The ICC issued warrants for Netanyahu and Gallant over objections that it lacks jurisdiction over Israel (not a member) and should defer to Israel's own courts; its appeals judges later found the lower chamber wrongly brushed off Israel's jurisdiction challenge. The prosecutor who sought the warrants, Karim Khan, was removed in July 2026 for serious misconduct (unrelated to Israel; he denies it). On the other side, the court sought warrants for Hamas leaders on the same day, and has issued warrants for Putin, Taliban leaders and Duterte.

“UNRWA upholds the UN principle of neutrality”

Disputed. The UN's own investigators found nine UNRWA staff "may have been involved" in October 7, a Hamas commander in Lebanon was an UNRWA school principal and union head, and Israel showed a Hamas tunnel and server room beneath UNRWA's Gaza headquarters. An independent review led by Catherine Colonna found "robust" neutrality procedures but persistent problems, and said Israel had not provided evidence for its wider claims; the ICJ said the same in 2025.
