Two-State Solution

A proposed framework for resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through the establishment of two independent states: Israel and a Palestinian state, generally envisioned to include the West Bank and Gaza Strip with East Jerusalem as the Palestinian capital. Endorsed by the United States, European Union, United Nations, Arab League, and most of the international community as the preferred path to a negotiated peace. Formally proposed in various iterations including the Oslo Accords (1993), Camp David Summit (2000), Clinton Parameters (2000), and Roadmap for Peace (2003). As of 2024, no agreement has been reached. Both Hamas (which rejects Israel's existence) and some factions in the Israeli government (which oppose Palestinian statehood) have explicitly opposed a two-state outcome.
