The headline presents as an exposé what is a secondhand account: American surgeon Mark Perlmutter relaying that unnamed witnesses told him Israeli soldiers bulldozed two children alive into a hospital mass grave. It matches an April 2024 claim by Gaza's Civil Defense that "at least 20 civilians were buried alive" at Nasser Hospital, which the agency did not support with proof. The graves were dug by Palestinians during the siege, before Israeli forces entered; the IDF exhumed and later bulldozed them. No independent forensic examination has been published.

Scale and intent — side by side
